Benidorm - Restaurants

You already know that Benidorm has something for everybody and its restaurants are no exception.

Of course the best time to visit restaurants in Spain are for a late lunch or in the late evening. Unfortunately, I am normally either asleep at these times or on stage. Regardless, I try to find time to eat out at a Benidorm restaurant whenever I can.

El Segoviano

El Segoviano's à la carte baked lamb dish.A homage to what was a great place for traditional Spanish food - Meson El Segoviano. My friends went there all the time. The restaurant has now closed, but it will not be forgotten.

Segoviano specialised in dishes from the province of Segovia, in central Spain, north of Madrid.

It was located on the stretch of Avenida del Doctor Orts Llorca which runs between the modern church on Avenida del Mediterraneo and Calle Gerona.

The à la carte menu was fantastic - oven baked lamb (cordero horno), veal chop (chuletas de Ávila lechal), monkfish stew with onions, peppers and tomatoes (rape a la cazuela). However, for value for money, both locals and tourists went there for the 4 course Menu del Dia for 10 euros including wine.

A favourite set menu starter was a traditional bread and pea soup and for the second course there was a choice of a paella-like dish or perhaps some baby squid (chiperones). The main courses were inspired by the à la carte menu, with of course slightly smaller portions - the locals normally went with the lamb, Segoviano's signature dish. You had to leave room for a Spanish custard flan.
